World Environment Day 2024 campaign focuses on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience under the slogan “Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration.”  

Every year we celebrate the World Environment Day globally on 5th June to create awareness among people to save our environment, to save our existence in the earth and that’s why to take care of mother earth. Due to rapid industrialization and urbanization, pollution in all domains -Air, Water, Noise and even the Land is also in optimum zone and our planet is in danger and thus we are endangered as our wellbeing and also the economic development of all countries is depleting day by day.

Here a few simple but our daily life activities can contribute a lot to save Environment if we take the pledge today as an activity of observation of World Environment Day and to show our concern and care to our mother Earth. Are you agree to take pledge?

Habits to Adopt to Save Environment

Some little little habits of daily life can work in a magic way to reduce the rate of pollution in our planet and save our life. For example, if can make a cut in the use of single use plastic, it can bring a n outstanding result, not only decrease in pole of pollutants but also in marine pollution and soil degradation and even in health issues related to water pollution.

A study by Kosuth. M. et.al named “Microplastics in Drinking Water: An Emerging Concern” described the dangerous effects of microplastics present in drinking water on our overall health and those research and studies made us to think to bring changes in our daily habits and go for a sustainable development. Some simple habits to adopt and embrace in our daily life to Save Environment are stated below, let us take a pledge to adopt those.

Say ‘No’ to Single Use Water Bottle

Try to carry you own water bottle wherever and whenever possible instead of single use plastic bottles. Always try to refill your own water bottles with filtered/ drinking water as much as possible. You can opt for a “No” for the single use water bottles offered to you in a conference or seminar to show your concern to our planet. Also, if the facility available, you can drink water in a glass or mug but not in a single use plastic bottle.

Always Carry a Cloth Bag/Paper Bag

To Save environment, to save our life we need to say a strict ” NO” to polybags- polybags are not only causing marine pollution\water pollution but also degrading our soil in an extensive way and leading to desertification because only a few weeds/ no plants can grow in degraded soil. Here only by making the habit to take a cloth bag/ paper bag with us every day we can easily say a NO to polybags. Replace Plastic Wrappers/ Packets with Paper Items

We can make a good choice here, we should prefer the containers, packets, wrappers made from paper or other recycled materials than the plastic wrappers or packets. For example, fruit juices offered in paper container and paper straw are the good choices rather than offered in plastic bottle or container. We should always opt for coffee or tea in paper cups or recycled cups or earthen cups or mugs rather than single use plastic cups or mugs.

Reuse Your ” Fashion”

To make ourselves fashionable, looking good and smart, we try a lot like buying branded and fashionable clothes, jewelry/ accessories and other items and also discard those after a few months and thus contribute a lot in piling up pollutants in our surroundings.
